Deposit--Marine Biology in Belize

BIOL 321-A is a combination lecture and intensive field-experiential course designed to familiarize students with Caribbean marine biology. The field experience in Belize includes extensive physical activities (e.g., daily swimming and distance hiking). Through this field experience, students will learn how major ecosystems interact to sustain coral reefs, learn the essentials of coral physiology and behavior, become familiar with many of the organisms that inhabit reef systems, learn the basic ecological principles that describe the operation of near-shore ecosystems, and explore the history of the indigenous cultures of Belize.
